Making Money on Ebay | 25 March 2008 |
Wouldn't it be wonderful if all those purchases that seemed a great idea at the time were making money instead of sulking, forgotten, in the basement or garage?
Ebay isn't a get-rich-quick scheme, but with a little bit of research and preparation, making money on Ebay is a viable possibility. Deciding what to sell is the best way to start making money. As the old song goes, "anything and everything a chap can unload is sold off the barrow", but that does not mean that people will buy anything and everything. Marketplace research, available in the sellers' section of Ebay, is a great place to start to find what people have bought and sold over the past 90 days. Having a clear idea of what people are buying – and what they are paying top dollar for – is an essential way to know what items are making money on Ebay.
Once a valuable product or service to sell is decided on, the next step is to create a "perfect listing" that will stand out from the thousands of listings on the site. It is important to select the relevant category, write a detailed and positive - but honest - description, and include a picture. According to Ebay, 57% of buyers prefer to use PayPal as a payment method, so it is worth signing up for an account and making money via a payment method that is convenient for the majority of customers. It may seem to be counter-productive, but an item has a better chance of making money with a low starting bid - it will become popular among bidders, which will result in the eventual selling price being pushed higher.
